Exmouth Country Lodge, Exmouth Wedding Venue

Is your dream wedding a laid back, romantic countryside wedding with lots of outdoor space and historic rural barns? I visited the Exmouth Country Lodge wedding venue this week and would love to show you around.

Nestled on a country road that cuts through farmers’ fields between Exmouth and Littleham, you’ll find the Exmouth Country Lodge at Prattshayes Farm. Prattshayes once belonged to Sir Francis Drake’s family and with red brick buildings and pink plastered barns the farm looks like it’s straight from a history book.

This Exmouth wedding venue has a wedding barn and a large reception (party?!) barn. A pretty pagoda nestled amongst twisty trees in the orchard is the perfect spot for an outdoor wedding ceremony or to pose for photos.

The Cob Barn is a traditional barn with exposed stone walls and vaulted ceilings that give it the sense of wonder of a chapel without the religion. It can seat up to 150 guests and is decorated with twinkling fairy lights and a glamorous chandelier.

There’s a small mezzanine level which is an ideal spot for your photographer to capture the romance and joy of your unique wedding ceremony.

If you prefer an outdoor or garden party wedding you could get hitched at the pagoda, with your friends and family seated out in the orchard.

Your reception can be held in the large Cow Shed, which includes a bar, stage for a DJ and cozy mezzanine with sofas for when you  need to put your feet up for five mins before getting on with the festivities. You can host a seated wedding breakfast or evening meal or clear away the tables and party.

The barn has simple wooden walls, fairy string lights, chandeliers and drapes, which creates a beautiful, elegant ambiance. It also means that it’s a simple canvas on which to stamp your style.

Linking the Cob Barn, Cow Shed and Orchard is The Courtyard where you could host outdoor drinks, summer supper or simply be a chill out space.

With so much space and versatility you can really stamp your personality on Exmouth Country Lodge. Lovers of outdoor games could set up croquet, fairground games or even bouncy castles.

Or you could keep things simple and let the traditional character and beauty of the setting speak for itself.

Whatever your wedding style, Exmouth Country Lodge is a beautiful, relaxed venue for your countryside wedding, or garden party wedding.

The Lodge also includes accommodation, with a self catering cottage, self catering lodge and of course, the campsite.

For the adventurous and outdoorsy couples there’s also a watersports centre on site for a post wedding paddle board or kit surf from Exmouth Beach.

It is licenced for registrars which means you could do the “legal bit” on the same day as your personalised celebrant wedding. Or hop over to Exmouth Town Hall before or after your wedding date.

As a local wedding celebrant who just has to walk across the farmer’s fields to get to Exmouth Country Lodge, I would love to celebrate your marriage at this unique Exmouth wedding venue there. It’s a versatile and unique setting with friendly and experienced staff, big thanks to Anita for showing me around.

I think there’s something truly magical about the quiet countryside around Exmouth, and so long as the weather cooperates, you’ll be able to wish upon the many stars above to bless your marriage.
