Frogginwell Vineyard, owned and run by Connie and Ali, is a cider barn and vineyard that is just outside Exeter. It’s a  perfect country barn wedding venue for couples who want to focus on the ceremony and time spent with their guests in an intimate countryside setting.

Sitting just 7 miles outside Exeter, Frogginwell is easy to get to by car and even has a bus running right past it, making it super accessible for friends and family to share your special day. Set far back from the road, you’re transported to the heart of the Devon countryside as soon as you get out of your car.

The venue is made up of four main areas – the bar and barn, the traction engine barn, outside deck and then the grounds with pergola. Which gives you lots of choice for where to have your wedding ceremony. 

Your Country Barn Wedding Ceremony

For summer weddings you can have your celebrant led wedding ceremony in the pergola, surrounded by your loved ones and the sweeping country views. 

If you’re into vintage vehicles or just fancy something quirky, you can say your vows in front of the 1930s traction engine in the engine barn.

And, if you’re a little more traditional or the weather isn’t on your side, then the wooden beamed main barn can be the perfect place to share your love story and promises of your life together.

Your Country Barn Wedding Reception

The main barn can seat up to 120 people for a sit down reception. The wooden beams create a rustic feel and the arched french windows flood the room with light, allowing you to create your own style with decorations and flowers. For a more relaxed feel you could set up a buffet or grazing tables and allow your guests to mingle inside and out. 

There’s a wooden deck and outside seating area, shaded by wisteria so if you’re having a spring or summer wedding you’ll be treated to wisteria hysteria as the hanging blooms create a stunning  backdrop for your wedding photos.

Away from the main barns there is the vineyard, an orchard and hay meadows, giving you enough space for energetic children, or their parents, to run off the wedding cake sugar rush. 

Or you could get creative and set up outdoor games, food trucks or any other outdoor entertainment that sparks your imagination. There are lots of ideas here for outdoor summer weddings.

As day turns to night, your guests can take advantage of the American style bar and dance the night away under the sparkly glitter ball or warm themselves around the firepit outside.

I’ve been to many events at Frogginwell and it’s one of my favourite venues in the Exeter and East Devon area. The staff are always friendly and fun, the feel of the venue is always welcoming and friendly, it’s super easy to get to and it looks stunning whatever the season or weather. The venue is also developing it’s own accommodation which will no doubt be stunning and make it an even more attractive venue for your country barn wedding.
